The PlayStation is widely regarded as one of the greatest consoles ever released.

That's no exaggeration.

Released in 1994 in Japan, Sony ushered in an era of coolness and gaming innovation that would forever shape the landscape of interactive entertainment.

Again, that's no exaggeration.

Back in the 90s, video games faced an image problem. There was an attitude that folks who game are those who are mostly confined to the four walls of their bedrooms, rarely coming out but for necessities.

It just wasn't taken seriously as an entertainment form for those that didn't understand. Much too nerdy for those who frequented the cinema or pub for a catchup with chums.

But things took a turn when Sony entered the scene. Their arrival made gaming appealing, turning it into something that would endure far into the future.

And endure it did.
